It is with great pleasure that I get to share some of my many favorites from Shannon and Alex’s wedding from the end of August. It was a cloudy day and we lucked out with NO rain and perfect cloud diffusion for photos. Shannon and Alex tied the knot at the Lawton Community Center in Lawton, MI. This rustic venue used to be an old winery- the exposed stones and natural light made the ceremony setting so beautiful!
Shannon had so many pretty details and fun shoes- some of my favorite things to capture during a wedding day are all the details that brides put in to the day:
I was loving the light in the bar area and asked Shannon if she would like to get ready in that space- the photos are really quite stunning and moody! I’m so glad I was able to capture her mom’s emotions while they helped her get ready.
Shannon and Alex chose not to see each other before the ceremony, but Shannon did do a first look with her dad! I love this new tradition, it’s becoming more and more popular! Such sweet reactions and excitement!
I always take as many photos as possible before the ceremony when there is no first look, this way, the bride and groom can get to their reception and greet their guests as soon as possible after the ceremony.
I LOVE the bridesmaids dresses in combination with the flowers- such a gorgeous fall feel! The stone walls were a perfect backdrop for some handsome groom’s portraits.
The ceremony was lovely and it’s so nice when venues offer a ceremony location as well as reception space all in one! I loved Shannon’s entrance from the top of the stairs. In leu of a unity candle, Shannon and Alex watered the tree and will plant it on their property, which I thought was really special and unique!
And finally- the wedding party and bride and groom and family portraits! What a fun group! They had an awesome party as well- lots of special sunflower touches! Sugar cookies and hand-painted wine glasses. I got a lot of fun dancing photos as well- I love when large crowds flood the dance floor! Congrats, Shannon and Alex! I wish you all the best- marriage is truly such a blessing- especially when you marry your best friend. The love you two share was so evident to me during your wedding day and I’m truly honored that you chose me to document this epic day of your lives! If you or someone you know is looking for a wedding photographer- I am currently booking 2019 and 2020 dates. If you refer a wedding couple to me and they book- your referral will earn you a FREE mini session for yourself/ family/ kiddos! So, it’s a great deal for everyone! 😉
